Classic Fashion Icons:

In this life we all have our fashion icons. Most of the time they're stars that have the same style that we do or a style that is all their own which has us have respect for their style. Here are a few classic fashion icons known for their style:

Marilyn Monroe:

Audrey Hepburn:

Coco Chanel:

Jackie Kennedy:

Grace Kelly:

All five of these wonderfully beautiful women were also very well-dressed and had a good sense of fashion. They knew elegance when they saw it and made sure to wear it wherever they were. They also wore elegance in makeup and had the classic curls and waves streaming through their hair.

These women will forever be known not only for their fame but also for what they wore and who they wore. Beauty flowed through them and they showed it to the world. Their fashion has lived on past them and into modern fashions. My next post will actually be about modern fashion icons. Tune in tomorrow to see that post.

Father's Day:

Today's blog isn't going to be about makeup, fashion, or anything like what I normally write about. Today I write this blog in honor of my father, David Cook. One of my favorite people in the world, Kandee Johnson, lost her father in a tragic accident on Wednesday and it opened my eyes to what would happen if I lost my father. My world would be completely different...shattered, broken, and numb.

I'm very close with my parents and it's funny because even if I try to deny it sometimes I'm very much like my father. We both get strawberry red in the face when we laugh, we can only handle negative people for so long before we're pulling out our hair, and we both enjoy sports and real estate. I don't even know where to begin to describe my father. I feel as if I might not give him the justice that he deserves if I write about him.

He lost both of his parents when he was young. He didn't lose them both at the same time, there were actually years between but if I lost my parents the way that he did, when he did, I wouldn't be sane. My father is strong and sometimes a little hard-headed and rough but he's had the life to go with it. He had a lot of help after his parents died but it took him awhile to actually accept it. When he did accept it, he got a job and started getting focused.

After he got focused he got a job, met my mom, got married, and started having children. My dad has been a good dad. Was he a perfect dad? No. I don't believe that any parent is perfect. Just like no human can be perfect, how can you expect your parent to be? There were times when I didn't like him and he didn't like me. Most of those times were in the beginning of my teenage years (understandably ha) but now I realize that I was just being a snotty teenager and had no place to be the way that I was sometimes.

If you're younger (teenage years) and reading this, please take it from me: Don't disrespect your parents. Don't be mean, curse, or yell at them. One day when they're not here you'll remember all of those times where you weren't nice and it will eat you up. If you don't do it to start with, no bad memories like that can eat you up. Your parents try everything to keep you safe, even if you don't like their decisions sometimes. It's not because they're trying to keep you from having fun it's because they want you to come home safe and sound and if they don't believe you're going to come home that way then you're not going.

Trust your parents instincts. Most of the time they know what they're doing. Before I tell my mom anything about what's happening in my life she somehow knows what advice to give, as does my dad. How do they do that? Is it a sixth sense? Superpower? I guess we won't know until we're parents ourselves.

I hope one day that I find a man like my dad. A strong, funny, handsome, and Godly man. I want to find a man that knows that he's not perfect and admits it. I want a man that I can sit and watch sports with and he let's me know my sports. I know some guys don't like it when girls know their sports. Sometimes I'm wrong with statistics or names and my dad will correct me but with love. If you're not a sports fan then you might not relate to this part, haha.

I just hope that you all have good relationships with your dad and are close to him. I know that it's not always a reality. I have friends that don't know their dads or ever talk to them. That's where I'm blessed. I'm blessed enough to wake up and see my father everyday. That's what I don't want to take forgranted.

So instead of getting mad at your father today, go and give him a bear hug. Go tell him how much you love him, because chances are he loves you right back too. Even if he doesn't say it all of the time because especially if you're a teenage girl they don't want to embarass you or step on your toes so they might hold back a bit.

Hope you all had a fantastic Father's Day!

The Ombre Trend:

Ombre: N. A French term meaning "shaded." Usually a multicolored stripe, with colors graduating from light to dark. The color effect is woven into the fabric. Generally produced by arranging different tones in the wrap.

Dream Closets:

I was on Pinterest the other day and came across a beautiful selection of custom closets. I was mesmerized by all of the wonderful set ups for clothing, shoes, and accessories. I decided that today's blog will be about dream custom closets. These closets really are amazing, gorgeous, and everything little girls dream of!

Now, these are some pretty gorgeous closets huh? Wouldn't we all love to wake up in the morning, splash some cold water on our faces and wander into a closet as pretty as these? Ahh, the life...anyways, as you noticed the last closet was specifically for Mariah Carey's shoes!

Hope you're all enjoying your Thursday night with family, friends, and Game 2 of the NBA Finals! Go Thunder!

5 Places Outside of the U.S. That I Would Like to See:

This week was the type of week where you find yourself dreaming of a vacation. Those thoughts got me thinking - if I could go anywhere right now, where would I go? I narrowed it down to places outside of the U.S. to stretch my comfort level a bit. Originally I was thinking Hawaii, NYC, maybe Miami but I went deeper. A few may be obvious places. Places where most travelers would like to see. But here are the five places I would like to see outside of the United States!

Paris, France:

London, England:

Toronto, Canada:

Naples, Italy:

Crete, Greece:

So, if you could take a vacation (outside of the United States) at no cost...where would you go? The cold air of Toronto, the streets of Paris, or a beach in Italy? The possibilities are endless with dream vacations and eventually could very much come true!

Summer 2012 Style!

Summer 2012 Style!

Well now that summer is here it's time to start dressing like it. I love summer because of the cool, coral pieces I can wear and the sandals! My feet feel smothered in tennis shoes and even some flats, so sandals are my favorite! I also love summer because girls seem to layoff of the makeup a little bit and go for more natural looks with soft glows. So how do you plan on dressing for the summer? Shorts, bikinis, and maybe some wedges?

Monday Funday?

Because I need more batteries for my camera and the super cool nail polish theme I did is now chipping off, I need to get new batteries and re-paint my nails to the blog that I wanted to do today. But I ended up having a lot of work to do today and also am feeling a little sicky. Ew, right? So I will do a Monday Funday blog! This blog will include 10 fun facts about me. Ready? Let's go!

1. I love owl-themed jewelry. Earrings, rings, necklaces, you name it. If it has an owl on it...I think it's pretty rad. Yes...I just said rad. Gnarly dude.

2. I'm very good in school. My favorite subject is History and my least favorite subject is Math. Go figure, I'm looking into Buisness majors.

3. I love the color turquoise. Especially in a Native American theme.

4. When I'm sick, I love ordering "The Coldbuster" from Jamba Juice. It's a yummy pre-boosted smoothie that gives you an immunity boost and an antioxidant boost to help get those ickies away. (I had one just yesterday actually. They're yummy too!)

5. I love when at night I can rewind. Take a shower, get on my jammies, and watch one of my favorite tv shows like The Voice, Smash, or Parenthood for example.

6. I'm obsessed with pretty dresses. They're just so...pretty.

7. I prefer keeping my hair short instead of long. I get really annoyed when my hair is long and it's all over the place, it's not any fun.

8. I lived in Oklahoma for 17 months and miss it everyday. (I now live back in my home state of California.)

9. I love animals! I have four kitties and love them all to pieces. <3

10. One word: SPORTS! I love football, baseball, and basketball. I love going to live sports games, they're so fun! The food however is always really expensive so make sure to eat a good meal before you go. Unless, you're favorite part of going to a game is getting the infamous "American Dog." Ha ha. I personally cannot eat something like that just sitting in a seat. I'm weird though...

Anyways, there are ten fun facts about me and what I love and do and think. Ya know. I will leave you with a wonderful quote and then be off and into my night of DVR-ed goodness.

"Leadership: The art of getting someone else to do something you want done because he wants to do it." - Dwight D. Eisenhower

Hope you all have a wonderful week and lead yourself and others to make the right choices and give somebody a bright, beautiful smile.

Here's to nice warm jammies and your favorite spot on the couch, Sarah. Xx.
